Dr. David Scott

Dr. David Scott, PhD is an exercise scientist and NHMRC Career Development Fellow in the Bone and Muscle Research Group at the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health, Monash University. His work focuses on age-related changes in skeletal muscle mass and function (sarcopenia) and adiposity, their effects on risk for falls, fracture and disability in older adults, and potential lifestyle interventions for preventing these outcomes. He collaborates with investigators from several cohort studies including the Tasmanian Older Adult Cohort, Concord Health and Ageing in Men Project and Healthy Ageing Initiative (Sweden). He also currently leads several clinical trials exploring the effects of targeted exercise and nutrition interventions on body composition, physical function and bone health in older populations. He has a keen interest in musculoskeletal imaging and techniques for objectively assessing physical activity, and has published over 120 journal articles and book chapters
